Cancerversary

It's almost my one-year anniversary of my cancer diagnosis.  During the 7 weeks of my recovery time after surgery, much of the time was spent in crocheting myself a “cancer survivor” afghan in the color of my cancer, peach.  Did you know each type of cancer has a “theme color?”  Most people see pink ribbons for cancer awareness because pink is the color for breast cancer, but there are many others.  To see a list of the various cancer colors, visit

Working on my cancer survivor afghan was very therapeutic as I waited the long 7 weeks until my first follow-up appointment when I was to receive the final test results from my surgery.  Conclusion?  Grade 1 only, no sign of cancer in any of the lymph nodes, meaning no radiation nor chemotherapy!  Am I the only one who gave her oncology surgeon a big hug upon receiving that news?  (Probably not!)
